Financial University’s Visit to China: Advancing International Continuing Professional Education

Financial University is enhancing its international collaboration in the field of Continuing Professional Education (CPE), strengthening partnerships with leading educational and research institutions in China.

In March 2025, a university delegation visited Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Macao to foster educational initiatives, including MBA programs, internships, and courses for public servants and entrepreneurs. The delegation was led by Vice-Rector for CPE Elena Alexandrovna Didenko and included Dean of the Faculty of International Economic Relations Pavel Sergeevich Seleznev, Deputy Vice-Rector Igor Sergeevich Shevalkin, and heads of key university departments.

17 March: Shanghai

The visit commenced on 17 March with a meeting at Fudan University, one of China’s top institutions. Discussions were held with Professor Zhang Jun, Dean of the School of Economics. On the same day, the delegation visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University, further exploring opportunities for collaboration.

18 March: Shanghai

On 18 March, the delegation visited Shanghai University of Political Science and Law. Rector Li Xiaohong and Vice-Rector Luo Ligan highlighted the importance of the partnership established in 2024. Elena Didenko presented CPE programs, including “Doing Business in Russia,” and outlined internship opportunities. Joint projects for managers were discussed, and Luo Ligan invited colleagues to the SCO Forum on “Legal Support for Trade and Economic Activities” in June 2025. Later that day, at the Shanghai University Technopark, the delegation examined innovative approaches and explored prospects for technological exchange.

19 March: Shanghai Lixin University

On 19 March, the delegation met with the leadership of Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance. Vice-President Liu Yunqin emphasized the success of the partnership initiated in 2023. Elena Didenko proposed advancing programs such as “Doing Business in Russia” and “Doing Business in China,” alongside training for international accounting exams. Pavel Seleznev and Alla Kanke addressed dual-degree MBA programs and research collaboration.

21 March: Hong Kong

On 21 March, the delegation visited the University of Hong Kong Business School (ranked 17th in QS 2025), meeting with Dean Professor Hongbin Cai. Discussions focused on MBA programs, CPE internships, and the development of “Doing Business” courses. Both parties affirmed their mutual interest in deepening ties.

Outcomes

The visit marked a significant milestone in Russian-Chinese educational cooperation in CPE. Negotiations with partners in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Macao outlined key areas of joint work: developing MBA programs, organizing international internships, creating courses for public servants and entrepreneurs, and sharing expertise in law, finance, and innovation.

Elena Didenko underscored Financial University’s readiness to design foreign-language programs addressing global challenges and to host international participants in Moscow. Chinese counterparts expressed enthusiasm for strengthening academic ties, recognizing the university as a reliable partner. Moving forward, the focus will be on implementing agreements, launching collaborative educational projects, and reinforcing Financial University’s standing in the global arena.
